The Buffalo Area Chamber of Commerce and the Dallas County Betterment Association Proudly Present...
the 10th Annual Southwest Missouri Celtic Heritage Festival & Highland Games

Big Thank You!

The Buffalo Chamber of Commerce and the Dallas County Betterment Assoc. who are the sponsors of the SW MO Celtic Heritage Festival and Highland Games wish to thank everyone for helping make the 10th anniversary of the festival such a huge celebration and success. If you weren't able to attend, you missed a wonderful day of music, games competition, food, vendors and many other events that went on all day long. The noon day parade was the highlight of the festival. Due to the inclement weather on Friday night, the Calling of the Clans was cancelled, but it began the parade on Saturday. Many people enjoyed that event.

The Buffalo Chamber of Commerce wishes to thank everyone who volunteered their help to make this festival a great success.

New Performers

In honor of the 10th Anniversary of the Celtic Festival, we are featuring new performers to entertain you. OUR FEATURED GROUP HEADING OFF THE ENTERTAINMENT LIST FOR 2012 IS: THE FARNUM FAMILY

The Farnum Family, from Galena, Missouri, consists of six children with dad & mom all performing American and European-originated folk music from the early 1800's thru mid-1900's and beyond. With influence gleaned from bluegrass, folk, gospel, Irish, old-time standards, and cowboy & western, their diverse blend of music is styled in an acoustic string-band fashion: instruments include the 5-string banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin and upright bass, supported by piano & penny whistle, with occasional accents from the Bodhran, washboard and harmonica. Their homespun and entertaining presentations are suitable for all ages.

In the fall of 2009 and again in 2011 the Farnums were awarded a family scholarship to O’Flaherty’s Irish Music Retreat in Midlothian, Texas. They’ve performed to a “standing room only” crowd for a St. Patty’s Day event at Waxy O’Sheas’s Irish Pub & Restaurant on “The Landing” in Branson, Missouri, and received an excellent welcome at Trinity Hall Irish Pub in Dallas, Texas. We look forward to other sessions throughout the seasons. Having toured in over 15 states, the Farnum Family has shared music most of their lives. Entertainment experience includes performances for Branson tour bus groups, travelers on a genuine paddle-wheel vessel, tourists at Silver Dollar City and the Ozark Folk Center (in Arkansas), folks at community and county fairs, bluegrass festivals, churches, family camps & RV Parks, in historic theaters, American Heritage Music programs for assemblies, and many other events & venues. For the past few years the Farnum Family has been involved in presenting period music & dance instruction for annual SCV Sam Davis Youth Camps in Arkansas, South Carolina and Texas.
